Where do I begin? First I have the 5 Kovacevich / Davis Beethoven piano concertos that are correctly 4 starred by The Penguin Guide to Recorded Classical music. I also have Perahia / Haitink's 5 concerto effort. And also Vogt / Rattle's effort...and Brendel / Rattle......ALL are swept away by the Douglas - Camerata concertos. I HAVE NEVER HEARD ANY CLASSICAL PIECE OF MUSIC RECORDED AS BEAUTIFULLY AS THIS....AND MY COLLECTION IS OVER 600 CLASSICAL CDS. Additionally Barry Douglas is in complete control of all of the innuendos both in the piano playing and conducting the orchestra. Example of the recording.....you can actually hear the bow "buzzing" as it is slid across the bass violins, it is truly entrancing. I highly recommend buying this collection of music. I'm now on the prowl for other Douglas / Camerata recordings.
