Askenazy's Bartok is outstanding, both in the concertos and the sonata. This set is worth it alone for the Sonata for 2 Pianos and Percussion. Caveat about the 3rd concerto: there is a digital flaw at the beginning of the middle movement. It's not just my copy because I've heard the same flaw in uploads to Youtube. If you love this concerto and admire the performance as much as I do, you will not be able to live with this flaw. The good news is you can get a flawless disc of the three concertos in the multi-disc collection Decca put out of all of Solti's Bartok recordings--totally wonderful in every way, the whole set.I know of no other way to get the sonata; therefore, this set flawed set is indispensable, but there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth for anyone who loves the 2nd movement of no. 3.
