Haydn Complete Piano Sonatas Collection | Classical Music for Piano Lovers | Perfect for Concerts, Study & Relaxation

I shopped around looking at and listening to the various sets of complete Haydn sonatas, and this one really grabbed my attention. Mind you, I am a huge fan of Naxos, and the set performed by Jeno Jando is superb, but this set played by Rudolf Buchbinder is really transcendent. I'd say Buchbinder has the most nuanced and clean touch in 18th century piano music I've ever heard. His use of the pedal is beautifully discreet, only employed when needed for the just-right degree of legato and sostenuto. Buchbinder's dynamics are perfectly calibrated, as even his largest fortes are executed with consummate aplomb and clarity. He brings the Haydn sonatas alive in a way I'd never heard before, and I am very glad I got this set. It will provide many years of pleasurable piano listening. As a bonus, the last disc has a number of sets of variations to round out the collection. All elements of this set; performance, recording, design, packaging, and notes, are top-notch.
