The cover is made out of a black padded, quilted material--with the outer layer being made of nylon, in a 4" diamond pattern. How To Measure Your Piano: To measure the length of your grand piano, measure in a straight line from the rear of your piano to the very front of the piano keys (you want the longest possible measurement, so you include the keyboard). Once you have overall length of your piano, you can select the size range of the cover you need (for example, if your piano measures 5'8", you would select the cover that fits pianos from 5'7" to 5'9".
