Conclusion:If you are looking for a temporary bed buy this right now don't even bother with anything else.If you are looking for a permanent bed and want to save space buy this right now (or the smaller version if you are sleeping alone).If you like a firm mattress and want to sleep better buy this.If you want to save some money buy this.BUT don't expect it to look as nice and feel as 'homey' as a real bed... it is a piece of foam on the ground. You could invest in a platform to put it on but that would defeat the whole point of saving space / money / time._________________________________________________Review:In western culture people have somehow decided that mattresses and bed frames are pretty much the only way to sleep. In fact, when I considered purchasing this as my permanent bed, I was extremely hesitant. I wanted to save space in a tiny NYC room I planned on sharing with my partner, but worried about the comfort. After about a year of sleeping on it I would NEVER buy a mattress and bed frame EVER again. This is one of the best purchases I have made in my life and I would actually say it has significantly changed my life. I would have trouble choosing between this futon and my smart phone if I could only keep one. Initially I said "not the most comfortable permanent sleeping solution but so convenient" after a couple weeks of sleeping on it. After sleeping on the futon for a year I would just never sleep on anything else if I had my choice. Heres why:1. It is so much cheaper than a mattress and bed frame2. It is an INCREDIBLE SPACE SAVER. Just fold it up even with the top sheet on. I thought it would be annoying to do this but it's not.3. It is MORE comfortable than a mattress - the firmness once you get used to it is incredible4. When you move on the futon the person sleeping next to you will not wake up from being disturbed because it is so firm5. You could bring it with you nearly anywhere and don't need movers to help you6. It folds up as a little couch (not the greatest couch though that's for sure)(It can also be used as a super make-shift sound isolation booth for recording vocals. I am an audio person and sometimes have to resort to extreme measures to record something with decent quality.)CONS:It is not nearly as nice looking as a real bed. People look surprised when they see it.It might not last as long... but I could buy 3 or 4 of these for the price of a bed so that doesn't count.If you are a very heavy or large person it may not suite you well.I want to thank the inventors of this incredibly simple yet useful product. Seriously, I would not want to live without this futon.
