Description

DIM is an indole phytochemical that is a natural metabolite of compounds found in cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, Brussels sprouts and cabbage. In preclinical studies, DIM has been shown to lead to the preferential formation of estrogen metabolites that are correlated with healthy breast, endometrial, and cervical tissues. This unique property sets DIM apart from other plant nutrients. Source Naturals DIM is combined with phospholipids, vitamin E and BioPerine for enhanced absorption.

I'm in perimenopause and was having hot flashes + terrible night sweats that kept waking me up, followed by cold spells.I started exploring non-Rc options because all doctors want to offer are psych meds, nerve pain meds, or blood pressure medicines. No thanks.I tried black cohosh, which worked after a few weeks but made me gain weight, so I stopped those. Then I tried evening primrose oil supplements but those didn't do anything. Then I tried these in January '22.I started taking them daily but got bad headaches, so I reduced to taking 1 every 2-3 days so my body could adjust. I did that Then I usually increased to 1/day. I was still having night sweats but no more hot flashes during the day.I really wanted to stop the night sweats more than anything else, so I increased the dust to 1 in the AM + 1 at night. I've been free of night sweats for several months now. What annoys me is that GYNs poo-poo these alternative treatments, even when you tell them they're working for you! I'm an RN yet my GYN (a man, surprise) doesn't seem to take me seriously regarding these. Like yeah, I know there aren't any studies supporting DIM for hormonal issues but they don't do enough studies on women! These work great and are safe, they're basically just concentrated cruciferous vegetables, so unlike black cohosh, you don't have to worry about effects on your liver.Since I have started these I have had no migraines. I'm 48 and have suffered chronic migraine since age 10. The first few days were a little uncomfortable, but once I got through that, they seem to be doing the trick. I started at 1 100mg capsule and that's where I've stayed. Seems to be working well. Always start with small doses and work up to what suits your body best!I had seen some recommendations for DIM when you have bad menstrual cycles and had also seen it mentioned for hormonal acne. I decided to try a low dose first and work my way up. I started with just one 100mg tab in the morning and I'm up to two now. I've noticed my skin looks WAY better, which is a big plus for me since I've always been a monthly breakout person. I still have combo skin but I'm not getting breakouts like I used to.As for my monthlies, is a tad shorter but still on the heavy side. Cramping seems a tad better as well, I'm hoping the 200mg a day will change that a bit more. Of course any change for the better when you have endometriosis is huge, so I'm still impressed. There are some other bonuses too which I wasn't totally expecting. I've lost some inches in my waist and hips. Despite my workout routine and my very physical job I always have trouble in that area. Estrogen keeps us plump in that area I've read. Apparently DIM was the kick in the pants my body needed to get rid of some of that fat too. Is it some magical weight loss tool? Hell no, but if you are already losing weight normally through diet and exercise, this will keep the excess estrogen from telling the body to keep the fat in that area. Do I have abs of steel? Of course not, but my jeans fit a bit better. My mood and energy feels better now too, might just be that my face looks better but it's still a perk. My nails feel a tag stronger and aren't chipping as bad, and I've got a little less hair shedding going on. I have super thick hair though, so it's hard to tell anyways. All in all, I'm super happy with this product and this specific brand. It's relatively cheap and comes in capsule form rather than tablets, which makes them easier to take. I've started recommending it to family and friends and they are seeing similar improvements to their bodies as well.I really like this specific product because of the capsule form that it comes in and that it's a complex form. I've been taking DIM for a year now after my doctor suggested it to me...I had never even heard of it before but am so thankful that they recommended it to me.I was having issues with low progesterone/estrogen dominance and had been on a compounded progesterone (tried both capsule and cream forms) and that did seem to help but it wasn't until they told me about DIM that I finally became stabilized and saw the best results.I was having severe cystic acne breakouts along the side of my jaw....we're talking like 20-30 (no joke) painful cystic-pimples in one area that would not go away no matter what I did. Even as a teenager I would get acne but nowhere near like this. FINALLY, after starting DIM it completely cleared up and honestly am acne free now and within a couple months stopped taking progesterone all together.I notice that when I go without taking it...like recently I ran out and went about a week inbetween taking it because I forgot to order more...I have a TON of anxiety. I occasionally get anxiety while taking it (i've had anxiety for years) but not to the extreme of anxiety when not taking it.I've never experienced any side effects of taking DIM...or at least any bad/negative side effects.I usually take two a day but about 10 days before my period starts I bump it up to 4 a day and it makes that whole process a LOT easier lol.Oh, and I love the price on Amazon...pleeeease don't change it. So expensive at local stores!!Bought this for my teen daughter who may have POTS. Tried it out on myself as a guinea pig before giving it to my daughter. Strangely, overnight cravings for coffee and sugar have dissipated, and desire for alcohol has gone. Starting to lose weight with zero willpower involved.Have been taking Dim for a few months now & can feel the difference within myself.Would recommend to anyone post menopausal..
