Mine arrived in good condition. No damage. Assembly was easy. Assembly tip: Insert all hardware, then move to its final location and have someone sit on it while you do the final tightening. The finish is oiled, which means possibility of stains on light-colored clothing. Also, there were a few rough spots on some of the slats. So I did a quick fine sanding then applied several coats of spray-on outdoor polyurethane spar varnish (about $15 at the hardware store). The result is a beautiful finish, no stain on clothes, and more weather resistant. Sanding and spray varnishing was quick and simple, and whole cost was still significantly lower than for a comparable bench at the outdoor furniture store. The natural wood looks great at our entry door.
