I rocked an Ultimate Support Apex stand for years on weekend warrior gigs. It was great. Easy to transport and quick to set up. However... I was always worried some bar patron would come up and rest his/her hand on one end of the keyboard and flip it off the stand. I also like to set up on my backporch and I was worried that my 90# German Shepherd would come blasting thru and knock my rig over.I followed a lot of the discussion on Keyboard Forum and it opened my eyes to the K&M 18880. It's very well thought out and very sturdy even though it's made of aluminum. It folds really flat for transport and is only slightly wider than my keyboard case. If you play out a lot you know set-up and strike are half the battle. After working in the pro audio/video world for a couple of decades, I know K&M is a brand you can trust even though it's spendy. If you've ever struggled with generic mic stand that won't stay locked, you know the wisdom of the old saying, "buy once...cry once."A shout-out to the Amazon vendor, GlobalEcom. All they had in stock was a "used" item. I emailed them and according to their description it sounded like a "B-stock" or "open box" item from a music store. The 18880 arrived and it was in like new condition. It had obviously been assembled and set up but it was far from what I considered "used." I am very pleased all the way around.
