This album featuring the music of Gershwin, as performed by Michael Tilson Thomas at the piano and conducting the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra (LAPO) is excellent. On the first and fifth track Thomas plays the piano along with the LAPO and does justice to the Gershwin pieces performed. The music of Gershwin encapsulates the 1920s-1930s eras, and it captures some of the glamour of Hollywood as well. The sound quality is superb, as it is full-bodied and broad. In sum, this album is a superb performance of Gershwin favorites that should occupy the music library of anyone wanting to document the great musical performances of the 20th Century.
