The color of the cushion is the same as my computer shows, a dark beige. It's a nice sturdy cushion. I love the extra long length of the bench. It fits at the foot of the kingsize mattress with a few inches left on each side. The bench itself seems to be a very hard plastic and almost looks like wood. From a distance it looks like a rustic, aged wood finish. It's perfect for our decor which is beachy. It was fairly easy to build. The instructions were clear. If you've built furniture before this will be a cinch. Just be sure the pieces face the correct position before you bolt it in. The kit comes with an allen wrench to screw in the big bolts. You'll need a phillips head screw driver for 4 of the screws. The bolts come in 2 sizes. The 4 shorter ones are for the 2 cross bars. The rest are for the legs. There are 2 types of washers. The flat one goes against the "wood". The broken one (locknut) goes on top on it. When you're done tightening the bolts the locknut washer sticks out and isn't flush with the "wood". It doesn't show once the furniture is upright. Since you'll be building this cushion down, be sure to put something under it so you don't get your cushion dirty.
